NYC New York Color: Midnight Beauty - Halloween Nail Shades
Tuesday, October 28, 2014
Good morning! Today's post (and most of the rest of the week) I will be talking about some Halloween-y items. Last year I dressed up for Halloween for work and it was so much fun. This year, I'm pregnant and I'm not quite in the mood for dressing up. Having shades of polish for Halloween is a great alternative. Today I've got 4 polishes from NYC New York Color. These are part of the Midnight Beauty makeup collection for this season. Let's jump in!
The first polish up is Black Elixir. Of course you have to have a black polish for Halloween. It's This is a quick-dry polish and very opaque. I do still like to use 2 thin layers to apply my polish. I feel like I get better and more even coverage.
Next to black, you've got to have orange in your Halloween polish stash. This one is called Animal Instinct and it's got a hint of shimmer in it. I love how it's not a POW-in-your-face kind of orange. Again, 2 thin coats and I had great coverage.
Next is Animal Instinct but with the Rock Muse Smoky top coat over it. I used 2 coats because 1 was just too thin. I purposefully made some spots darker than others to show how much this top coat transforms the color underneath. I think it's quite interesting and I'm sure you could create a lot of different looks using this top coat. I also love how there is glitter all throughout. It adds so much more pop to the manicure.
The next shade is called I Am Not AffRED. It's a vampy, blood-red color and just screams Halloween! The formula is great and I applied 2 thin coats for the swatch below.
Rock Muse over I Am Not AffRED. Just WOW. The top coat turns this already dark shade ever darker. You can still see some of the red coming through. I absolutely LOVE this and I think I may have found a new favorite nail polish combo.
Are you dressing up for Halloween this year or are you sticking to orange and black on your nails? Let me know what your plans are!

These are nice staple shades for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteThese are great Halloween colors! I would probably do black with an orange accent nail. Fun!
